Iola Evans is the co-lead of the forthcoming Hulu limited series Washington Black, adapted by Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, who co-produced with Sterling K. Brown.She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and played the title role in a play called An Octoroon at the National Theatre in London, which the New York Times named one of the 25 best plays of the 21st Century. In television, she landed a role on Amazon’s Carnival Row shortly after graduating from drama school and subsequently booked the lead role in The 100 spinoff for The CW, which despite not moving forward, was met with an overwhelmingly positive critical response. The showrunner Jason Rothenberg called her “a superstar waiting to happen.”Additional film credits include the prehistoric thriller Out of Darkness, directed by Andrew Cummings, which premiered at the London Film Festival and was met with 5 British Independent Film nominations, and the thriller Choose or Die opposite Asa Butterfield, which sold to Netflix for a high 7 figures at the Cannes market.
