Her advocacy efforts have brought her to countless places around the world, where she works with local NGOs to speak to survivors and educate those still ignorant of the rampancy of modern-day slavery.In Fall 2010, she was honored for her work by Save The Children and awarded by the U.N. as "Global Advocate of the Year." She has participated in sessions to create the U.N. General Assembly’s Global Plan of Action to Combat Human Trafficking and represented the U.N. at the Vatican during the 2nd Annual Conference on Modern-Day Slavery. She regularly addresses the U.N. General Assembly, has testified before the US Senate, and spoken at conferences for State Legislators, the National Association of Attorneys General, and the American Bar Association, just to name a few.On the legislative front, she helped pass the strongest slate of anti-sexual harassment bills in the country in California with Equal Rights Advocates. Her advocacy in New York State alongside TimesUp and Governor Andrew Cuomo helped pass extensions to the statute of limitations for rape cases and strengthened protections against those dealing with and speaking out against sexual harassment.She was recently awarded Humanitarian of the Year by the United Nations Association of New York for her work on Human Trafficking.
